Customized Restorative Dentistry
Dr. Kyle F. Long focuses on preventing dental problems. However, when cavities, gum disease, and tooth loss occur, he offers complete restorative dentistry at his Denver, CO, office. His restorations are made from the best materials, and they are created at an outstanding dental lab to blend naturally with your smile. Dr. Long also offers dental implant-supported restorations, which provide the greatest stability. Before recommending any type of treatment, Dr. Long will evaluate your oral health and discuss your specific goals. Next, he can design a customized treatment plan.
Dental crowns are some of the most versatile and frequently placed restorations. A crown will fully cover your damaged tooth following treatment, and it will be made to look natural in terms of shape and color. Crowns can also be a good option if you have worn or unusually shaped teeth. They not only improve the look of your smile, but also help balance your bite. Our crowns are made at a trusted lab that uses metal, porcelain-fused-to-metal, and zirconia. Dr. Long will consider your cosmetic goals, budget, and the location of your crown to help you select the type that is most appropriate for you.
Dental bridges are used to replace one to three adjacent teeth. These types of restorations can be traditional or implant-supported. Traditional bridges are supported by crowns placed over the teeth on either side of the gap in your smile. Although they offer a trusted solution, more and more patients are choosing implant-supported bridges. These bridges do not require the alteration of healthy teeth and also stimulate the jaw to guard against bone loss, a side effect of tooth loss.
Dental implants are prosthetic tooth roots. Once the implants have integrated with your jaw, they will provide a sturdy base for a permanent and highly lifelike restoration. Dr. Long does not place implants himself. However, he can determine your candidacy for treatment and refer you to a trusted oral surgeon. Once you have healed from the surgery, he will attach your custom-designed crown, bridge, or denture. Implants are the only treatment that can stop the jawbone from shrinking after a tooth is lost, making them an outstanding investment in your health.
If you have a small or medium-sized cavity, Dr. Long will typically recommend a filling. We offer fillings made from both silver amalgam and tooth-colored composite. Composite will blend in with your smile to provide both support and aesthetics. Silver amalgam may eventually begin to show through your tooth. However, it is also more economical, and it is stronger than composite. Dr. Long will conduct a thorough exam to determine which option is best for your needs.
Gum disease is one of the most common health conditions in the US. This problem occurs when bacteria accumulate below the gum line, causing significant inflammation and discomfort. Eventually, your gums will start to recede, pulling away from your dental roots and causing tooth loss. A deep cleaning, also called scaling and root planing, is one of the most effective ways to treat gum disease. Dr. Long can also perform minor oral surgery, such as gum grafting. If you have severe gum disease, Dr. Long will refer you to a periodontist for specialized care.
